Green Data Cabinets
Next-generation servers and switches (e.g., blade server technologies) are increasing the density of equipment and cabling in the data center. This increased heat load presents new challenges to cooling systems, as traditional hot aisle / cold aisle strategies reach the limits of their effectiveness.

Defining a Green Data Cabinet Green data cabinets support environmental and eco-sustainability initiatives to reduce energy use within the data center, optimizing cooling systems and driving down operational costs. Existing power and cooling systems, for instance, can be optimized to handle twice the server capacity by leveraging state of the art green data cabinets, such as Panduit® Net-Access™ Cabinet Systems.
All components of the Panduit® Net-Access™ Cabinet System contribute to effective data center thermal management. The modular design provides a migration path for network stakeholders to manage increased heat loads and mitigate risk in a smart data center through the use of such green data cabinet innovations as: • Optimized Airflow that combines passive thermal management, superior cable management and an inset structural frame to ensure proper heat dissipation. • Server Vertical Exhaust System (VES) that channels hot air from within the cabinet directly into smart data centers above the ceiling plenum. • Net-Access™ Cooling Door (developed with IBM) that uses a server rear door heat exchanger to provides reliable heat removal. • Cool Boot™ Raised Floor Air Sealing Grommet that allows a greater amount of conditioned air to be redirected toward cooling network equipment.
