Tinley Park, IL (September 2, 2008) – PANDUIT, a world-class developer and provider of leading-edge physical infrastructure solutions, augments its portfolio to support mission-critical data center applications. Specifically, PANDUIT has developed an innovative approach to certifying fiber optic cabling systems for 100 Gb/s multi-lane data communication.
PANDUIT will discuss its research findings at the September 16th DatacenterDynamics Conference at the Hilton Chicago. The presentation, titled "Certifying Multimode Fiber for 100 Gb/s Ethernet Transmission," will be delivered at 2:10 p.m. in Hall 3 and will address parameters that govern multimode fiber (MMF) performance at speeds of 40 and 100 Gb/s.
Using its advanced test measurement system, PANDUIT quantified variation and consistency in key parameters affecting fiber performance for high-speed multi-lane data communication, and characterized differences in fiber manufacturing processes. Dr. Rick Pimpinella, Manager of Fiber Research at PANDUIT Laboratories explains, “This research will ensure the development of highly reliable multimode fiber solutions that are compliant with next-generation 40-100 Gb/s Ethernet standards.”
PANDUIT Laboratories’ extensive research and development programs support the rapidly evolving and fast-growing physical infrastructure demands of mission-critical data centers across multiple industries. This comprehensive program has enabled PANDUIT to develop new fiber optic cabling systems for data center applications that reduce risk and deliver the highest reliability and performance.
As a member of the IEEE 802.3ba task force, PANDUIT is actively participating in the development of the new standard that will support data rates for next-generation networks (targeted for 2010 ratification). The standard will cover two different speeds for applications ranging from storage area networking and server virtualization (40 Gb/s) to core networking and peering points for video-on-demand services (100 Gb/s).
Visit the PANDUIT booth in the conference Exhibition Hall to explore our comprehensive Data Center Solutions, which will enable next-generation 40-100 Gb/s data rates while mitigating risk across the entire physical infrastructure.
