Plant Network Upgrade Brings Meaningful Production Improvements
As consumer demand increased, noosa yoghurt needed a modern industrial network capable of supporting plant expansion while minimizing downtime. Working with Panduit and ecosystem partners, the company implemented a standardized, resilient network architecture designed to improve visibility, reliability, and scalability across manufacturing operations. The new infrastructure supports production growth, simplifies deployment, and delivers the availability required to maintain product quality and operational efficiency.
Challenges
- Organic network growth created complexity and made troubleshooting difficult
- Limited infrastructure documentation increased operational risk and downtime exposure
- Existing network architecture lacked the scalability required for facility expansion
- Enterprise and manufacturing networks required clearer separation and resiliency
- The business needed a standards-based platform capable of supporting future growth
Solution
- Designed a future-ready industrial network aligned with CPwE design principles
- Implemented a manufacturing and enterprise fiber backbone for performance and scalability
- Deployed Integrated Network Zone Systems and a Micro Data Center
- Installed a Pre-Configured Industrial Distribution Frame for rapid deployment and easier maintenance
- Standardized physical infrastructure using industrial fiber, copper cabling, and structured cabling best practices
Outcome
- Increased network reliability and availability across manufacturing operations
- Reduced deployment time by up to 75 percent through pre-configured infrastructure solutions
- Achieved 25 percent faster implementation compared with non-preconfigured alternatives
- Established a scalable network foundation to support continued business growth
- Improved visibility between enterprise and manufacturing environments while reducing downtime risk
Challenges
As noosa yoghurt experienced rapid growth and increased market demand, its original industrial network expanded organically without a standardized design framework. Troubleshooting became increasingly difficult, and unplanned downtime posed a growing risk to production operations. The company also lacked comprehensive physical infrastructure documentation, which further complicated maintenance and future expansion planning.
To support a major facility upgrade, noosa yoghurt needed a resilient and scalable network architecture that could accommodate production growth while minimizing disruption. Additionally, the organization sought to establish clear separation between enterprise and manufacturing network environments to improve reliability and reduce operational risk.
“Panduit provided a single source for our projects to reduce specification, evaluation, and procurement time. The turnaround time was very quick, and we are very pleased that there has not been one service call since the installation.”

The Panduit Strategy and Solution:
Panduit collaborated with Panduit ONE Gold Partner Malisko Engineering (now part of Barry Wehmiller Design Group) to develop a standards-based industrial network architecture aligned with Converged Plantwide Ethernet (CPwE) design principles. The solution focused on creating a robust physical infrastructure to support reliability, scalability, security, and future Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) initiatives.
The architecture included a manufacturing fiber backbone, enterprise fiber backbone, NEMA Type 12 Micro Data Center, Industrial Network Zone Systems, and a Pre-Configured Industrial Distribution Frame, along with UPS, control panel solutions, and fiber and copper connectivity. Structured cabling best practices and resilient network topologies were incorporated throughout the facility to maximize uptime and support future operational needs.
The Implementation
The implementation centered on establishing connectivity between the manufacturing floor and enterprise environment while improving network visibility and operational control. The Micro Data Center enabled secure communications and supported critical automation systems. Network Zone Systems were deployed throughout the facility to support industrial Ethernet connectivity and provide flexibility across production environments.
To support long-term performance, noosa yoghurt installed industrial optical fiber infrastructure, industrial patching solutions, grounding and bonding systems, and durable enclosure solutions designed for harsh food and beverage manufacturing conditions. Using pre-configured enclosures enabled faster installation while simplifying network maintenance and ongoing operations.
The Outcome
The new industrial network provided noosa yoghurt with a secure and scalable infrastructure capable of supporting increasing production demands. Reliability improvements helped reduce risk while creating a stronger foundation for future growth and expansion. Pre-configured solutions accelerated deployment timelines and simplified maintenance processes.
The combination of standardized infrastructure, improved visibility, and resilient network design allows noosa yoghurt to continue expanding their operations while maintaining product quality and operational performance. Project stakeholders also noted rapid responsiveness during deployment and reported no service calls following implementation, reflecting the effectiveness of the overall solution.
