Ask an Expert: How RapidID Pro and Pro+ Are Changing Network Documentation

I am Ashley Gonzalez, Content Marketing Specialist for the Enterprise Business at Panduit. With the newly launched RapidIDTM Pro and Pro+ solutions, I was able to have an informative discussion with Nathan Gleghorn, Senior Product Manager about the enhancements designed to make network documentation faster, easier, and more accurate.

Q: Nathan, thanks for joining me! Let’s start with the basics. What exactly are RapidID Pro and Pro+?

Nathan: Great question, Ashley. RapidID Pro and Pro+ are advanced versions of our RapidID platform. Pro adds device and asset documentation plus label printing capabilities, so you can print labels for cables, devices, and assets directly from RapidID software. Pro+ takes it a step further by introducing a central server feature, which allows multiple users to sync their work for a unified, accurate view of the entire network.

Q: That sounds like a great upgrade. What’s changing with the standard, free version of RapidID?

Nathan: The free desktop version isn’t going anywhere. It still offers core functions like Capture, Verify, Search, and Match. Plus, the latest update adds the ability to reprint existing cable labels, which is a nice convenience for everyday use.

Q: Let’s talk hardware. Which printers work with RapidID?

Nathan: RapidID was designed to work seamlessly with Panduit’s MP300 mobile label printer, which provides the resolution and cassette sizes needed for various templates.

Q: That’s great that users will have that flexibility. Now, the Pro+ central server sounds like a game-changer. Why is it such a big advantage?

Nathan: For organizations with multiple users, Pro+ simplifies database management systems. Instead of manually importing and exporting files across machines, users can upload and download updates with a single click, creating an accurate, up-to-date network view without the hassle.

Q: Can we discuss the cost of the two new solutions? How does licensing work for Pro and Pro+?

Nathan: Licenses can be purchased directly from the RapidID landing page. After selecting your product and purchasing your license, you’ll receive a license key via email. Pricing is $150/year per machine for Pro and $300/year per machine for Pro+.

Q: Last question—what labeling options exist for non-factory labeled cables?

Nathan: We offer two solutions:

·       Printing capability in Pro and Pro+ for custom labels

·       Bulk RapidID labels, available in rolls for small and large diameter cables
