Panduit Fiber Optic Research and Product Innovations at OFC 2019

TINLEY PARK, Ill. — (February 26, 2019) — Panduit Corp., a global leader of innovative electrical and network infrastructure solutions, announces its participation at the Optical Networking and Communication Conference and Exhibition (OFC) at the San Diego Convention Center in California, March 3 - 7, 2019. During the technical conference, Panduit will contribute a presentation that summarizes recent advancements made in the field of data center communications. While at the exhibition, Panduit will have multiple demonstrations of its leading-edge fiber optic communications products. While at the exhibition, Panduit will have multiple demonstrations of its leading-edge fiber optic communications products.

At the technical conference, Asher Novick’s presentation titled “Modal Chromatic Dispersion Compensating Fiber Channels Using 100G Multimode Optical Transceivers” describes the performance of multiwavelength 100G transceivers over multimode dispersion compensated fibers. The experimental work he will present demonstrates that OM4 multimode fibers with dispersion compensation properties can achieve similar or longer reaches than standard OM5 multimode fibers.

During the exhibition, Panduit will be a part of seven demonstrations with other optical communication ecosystem leaders. At the Ethernet Alliance booth (#6637), Panduit’s HD Flex™ fiber cabling system, which is designed to enable organizations to easily scale density and execute moves, adds, and changes safely, will be supporting 400 Gb/s transmission over singlemode fiber, and in a separate demonstration with Anritsu, Cisco, and Amphenol, Panduit will be displaying 100 Gb/s bi-directional transmission over 200 m of OM4 Signature Core™ multimode fiber.  Within the Anritsu booth (#2931), and in partnership with Anritsu and Cailabs, Panduit’s OM3/OM4 multimode fiber will be shown to support both 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s over 2000 m using novel mode division multiplexing technology enabled by Panduit’s HD Flex™ ultra low loss optical connectivity. Within the Consortium for OnBoard Optics booth (#1817), there will be a demonstration of a 400 Gb/s, using 16 channels at 25 Gb/s, over 300 m of a 48 fiber Panduit trunk cable terminated low loss MPO connectors. Within the Senko Advanced Components booth (#1503), Panduit’s HD Flex™ fiber cassettes and 1RU patch panels will be displayed with CS® optical connectivity for high density structured cabling applications. Finally, Panduit’s OM3 multimode fiber cable will be displayed at Cisco’s booth (#5829).

“OFC is the premier conference on optical communications that brings together thought leaders from across the globe to share innovations and breakthroughs driving tomorrow’s optical networks”, said Panduit's Chief Technology Officer Brett Lane. “We’re very proud of the numerous demonstrations at this year’s event, which exemplifies our longstanding commitment to the research and development of innovative fiber optic products that solve business problems for our customers.”
