Panduit is constantly working to minimize its ecological footprint—from sustainable manufacturing processes and energy savings initiatives at our facilities, to the use of environmentally friendly materials in our products, to our world headquarters being recognized as a LEED Gold certified building.
We are also committed to helping our customers reach their sustainability goals. Today, Panduit is proud to announce that we have expanded our list of products to help customers achieve their desired LEED certification status.
The US Green Building Council developed LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), the most widely used green building rating system in the world today. Globally, more than 100,000 buildings have achieved LEED certification since 19 projects pilot-tested LEED v1.0 beginning in 1998.
LEED v4
LEED updated its allowed products in LEED v4, which was introduced in 2015, to allow cabling products that have an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) and/or a Health Product Declaration (HPD), to contribute points toward certification. EPDs and HPDs are third-party verified reports that disclose potential environmental (EPD) and human and ecological health (HPD) impacts of a product.
Panduit's EPDs and HPDs
In 2016, Panduit became the first cabling infrastructure manufacturer to achieve EPD and HPD certifications on copper cabling and connectivity. Since that time, Panduit has expanded our number of EPDs and HPDs, and today, that list includes 40 RJ45 connectors and 19 cable product families. The product offering covers the following applications:
- Unshielded and shielded
- Category 5e, Category 6, and Category 6A cables and connectors
- Plenum, riser, and low smoke zero halogen flame ratings
While there are a few cable manufacturers that offer EPDs and HPDs for cable products, Panduit remains the only one to have certifications on RJ45 connector modules. So, if you’re looking for an end-to-end solution that can help you earn LEED certification, Panduit is your only choice!
We are happy to share more information on our EPDs and HPDs. Please visit our FAQ document here or access the EPD and HPD documents here.
