Government Facility | Security Application

Challenge
An aggressive deadline for a 20-location security deployment. Traditional conduit was too costly and would require dozens of disruptive electrical panel shutdowns

FMPS Solution

Combined Power and Fiber in a single pathway to power Switches at 20 locations without the need for conduit.

Results

  • 22% Capex savings
  • 51% Material Savings (No conduit/heavy copper).
  • 42% Labor Savings (2 days vs. 14 days).
  • 78% Maintenance Reduction (Year-over-year savings).

Pella Glass | IT/OT Application

Challenge

  • Managing distributed UPSs across 11 locations in 2 buildings was a maintenance "pain."

  • High-voltage AC requirements meant only licensed electricians could touch the cabinets, increasing costs and safety risks.

FMPS Solution

Centralized UPS feeding all locations via low voltage Class 4 power distribution.

Results

  • Operational Efficiency: Simplified maintenance with centralized UPS backup
  • Safety: Eliminated the need for expensive transformers and high-voltage safety protocols at every rack.
  • Future-Ready: Built-in 40% headend capacity for future facility growth.

Custom Goods | IT/OT Network Application

Challenge

  • IDFs are in a hard to access area for troubleshooting
  • New warehouse tenants may require changes in warehouse layout and IDF locations

FMPS Solution

  • Low voltage pathways to run Class 4 cable – no fixed conduit in place
  • Powering HP CX6300 48 Port Switch with DC power supplies

Results

  • Lower maintenance costs and faster troubleshooting of remote IDFs that normally require a lift to access
  • No fixed conduit, low voltage installation provides flexibility needed to support future warehouse layout changes without the costly material and labor costs

Autonomous Car Company | WiFi and Security Application

Challenge

  • Distance to outdoor cameras and wifi access points exceeded the capabilities of PoE.
  • Compressed timeline

FMPS Solution

  • Leveraged existing conduit to provide power to Cisco 9300 switches and air conditioning unit for outdoor installation
  • Centralized UPS in indoor environment

Results

  • $200K estimated savings by avoiding costly trenching, expensive labor
  • Seamless redundancy with a centralized UPS, ensuring continuous operation during power outages
  • Future-Ready: Built-in 30% headend capacity for future growth

The Panduit FMPS Advantage

How Does Fault Managed Power System Work?

FMPS Graphical Workflow

The FMPS uses Pulse Current as its power delivery method. The Transmitter converts standard AC power into high voltage DC power, which is further converted into a Pulse Current waveform delivered over a Class 4 multi-conductor copper cable to the Receiver. The Receiver converts the pulse current waveform into +/- 56 VDC power, which can power multiple end devices.

With the ability to monitor faults, the system can safely use higher voltage to deliver power compared to low-voltage systems (Class 2). This allows the FMPS system to have all the safety benefits of low-voltage installations while delivering significantly more power over longer distances than Class 2 systems.

Why Safe Isn’t Safe Enough

The Industry Standard for Integrity: Panduit FMPS is the only Class 4 solution to achieve SIL3 (Safety Integrity Level 3). Provides ultimate peace of mind where safety is non-negotiable.
